Privacy policy

Without an account: nothing that identifies you. The topics you search for are sent to Jev (see below) to rank results, and are not stored with your identity.

With an account: your name, email address and a hashed password (or, with Google sign in, your name, email and profile image from Google), the professors and universities you save, your outreach status and private notes on them, and your collections.

Messages you send us: the text, the page you sent it from, and an email address if you give one.

When you use AI match, an uploaded file is read on our server to extract its text. Parts of that text, and the research interests you type, are sent to Jev, a model run by TypeSafe, to judge which parts describe your research and how well faculty match it. We do not store the file or its text after the results are shown, and TypeSafe states that it does not train on requests.

Faculty profiles are built from information universities publish about their staff (names, titles, departments, university email and phone, publications and courses) and from open bibliographic data. If you are a faculty member and want something corrected or removed, use the contact form.

We use one cookie to keep you signed in and a security cookie for sign in forms. Your light or dark theme choice is kept in your browser's local storage. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.

We do not sell or share your data. Service providers process it only to run the site: our hosting provider, TypeSafe for AI match, and Google if you choose Google sign in.

You can remove saved items at any time from your dashboard. To delete your account and everything linked to it, send a request through the contact form from the email address on the account.
