Sergio Borgia

Dr. Sergio Borgia, M.Sc., M.D., FRCP(C) is the Medical Director and Division Head of the Infectious Diseases Program at William Osler Health System where he is an Infectious Diseases consultant. He completed his graduate work in Medical Genetics & Microbiology at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, and obtained his medical degree from Queen’s University. Since joining Osler, Dr. Borgia has served as a consultant for the Infection Prevention & Control Department as well as the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program. He presently holds the co-chair of the Pharmacy & Therapeutics committee. His clinical and research interests are in viral Hepatitis, Infection Prevention & Control of multi-resistant bacteria, and Tuberculosis. Dr. Borgia sits on the steering committee of the CanHepC Canadian Network Undertaking Against Hepatitis C (CANUHC). At Osler he is the medical director of the Hepatitis C and Tuberculosis clinics and serves as a consultant to Peel Public Health. He has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and has served as a reviewer for JAMA, CMAJ, and CJG&H. Dr. Borgia believes in strong patient advocacy for Peel Region’s residents and seeks to increase access to health care resources, innovative treatments, and cross-disciplinary models of care.
